Following the oppose from the Punjab and the Uttar Pradesh states, in regard to Aaja Nachlae controversory, the Certification Board Chairperson Sharmila Tagore has expressed regret over the controversy created by certain lines perceived. The controversy took its pick up, with the lyrics of a song tried to insult the Dalits and so the people protested the movie. Politician Ms. Mayathi had sent a letter the the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ban the movie through out the nation.
Sharmila Tagore said, that board was willing to apologise if even one person was unintentionally hurt and that prompt action had been taken by the film makers. She also said that the Board had seen the movie and felt that lyrics were not caste based but truly profession based. They felt that after 60 years of independence, these differences had narrowed and such things would not ruffle sensitivities. Meanwhile the UP government has lifted the ban on the film.
She added that it would have been better for those people who had felt hurt to contact us directly. If they had done so, the matter could have been resolved quickly. As the offending portions would have been withdrawn, it would have been a better way of resolving the issue.
Movie goers in all the parts of the country are enjoying every bit the return of the dancing queen. They added that the issue was unnecessarily being politicized and that a mountain was being made of a mole hill.
