Hollywood’s one of the most talented and the action star, Wesley Snipes, was sentenced, by the court for faling to pay the tax. Snipes was sentenced, by a federal judge to three-year sentence on tax charges in Ocala, US. Prosecutors had requested the three year sentence, one year for each of Snipes’ convictions of willfully failing to file a tax return. Snipe’s lawyers presented in front of the court, a dozen of letter from friends, relatives and colleagues, stating his good character. Even colleagues and actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington had presented letters stating his good character.
They argued he should get only probation, because all three convictions were misdemeanors and the actor had no previous criminal record. The US District Judge William Terrell Hodges said in response that, Snipes exhibited a history of contempt over a period of time for US tax laws. In his mind these are serious crimes, albeit misdemeanors, Hodges added. Snipes apologized while reading from a written statement for his costly mistakes
With regard to this, Snipes said that, he is an idealistic, naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritually motivated artist, unschooled in the science of law and finance. Snipes said that his wealth and celebrity attracted wolves and jackals like flies are attracted to meat. He called himself well-intentioned, but mis-educated.
