It was a great last week, that ended up with the most awiated winners of the NDTV Indian of the Year. The nominees, comprised of all the well known personalites in India, like PM Manmohan Singh, actor Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, AR Rehman and many others.
It was a great time, when the SuperStar of the Kollywood Cinema Rajini Kanth won the award, leaving many others like Shilpa Shetty behind. The star from the South once again came in front of the B-Town girl, and wrapped up the award. Rajini Kanth, had a good 2007, with his blockbuster movie, Sivaji, creating all sorts of records, and also became the forst Tamil movie, to enter into the UK Top 10.
On the other hand, the actress Shilpa Shetty, also had a good year. She still received, a world-wide recognition, after she had faced a racial abuse at the Big Brother Celebrity Show. Even though, she ended up with the winner of the Big Brother. The most estonishing thing was that, she became the ambassador of the equality throughout the globe.
When our correspondent Jimpa Lakadi Bampa, got with the publicist of actress Shilpa Shetty, Dale Bhagwagar, he said that Shilpa, is an achiever and Rajini is a great performer. He added stating that, Shilpa has emerged the most famous Indian in UK. Hopefully, India will reward her for this accomplishment in future.
Apart from this, Shahrukh Khan received a special award, and singer Himmesh Reshammiya received the NDTV Award. The jury of the award ceremony, included, BBC correspondent Sir Mark Tully , Kiran Karnik, Shobha De, Shekhar Gupta and former chairman of ISRO Dr K.Kasturirangan.
