The director wants to build this movie like a Hollywood flick and this is for the first time Rajini will be acting for a Hollywood Indian movie and it is expecting to be a multi-lingual project.
All high budget movies are total natioinal waste. They cannot be justified for the entertainment they provide. We are a nation that has so much poverty and these kind of money can be diverted to good cause. Most of these movies spend these money outside India. Any movie above 10 crores should be taxed 100% and no tax break should be given for movies shooted outside of India. My 2009 resolution is not to watch any high budget movies in Theatre. The poor people of India make the riches more and more rich.
I appreciate your Concern about poor people in India.
but I would like to tell you that there are thousands of families which live on these films.
its not just the Producer , Director and Actor who make money.
Film Industry provides livelihood to Lakhs of employees who are behind the scenes. there are also theatre owners and workers in Theaters, Shop keepers in Theatres.
if you look at the technicians and workers in Andhra and TN film Industry, they are well off and well paid than Kannada Film Industry. The reaon is because we in Karnataka donot make big budge movies. the money given to hero in Kar is same as what Camera man earns in Other states.
so Big budget Movies are good for the all the thousands of people associated with it.
if you look in economic point of view. More spending in terms of Liquid cash is good for economy. if every one who has money starts stacking it in banks and investments how will the money circulate and how will the Basic Economic need of the state be fulfilled.
Though I admire your Concern , try to do something which will help people.
if people start saying you will not watch movies in theatres and start watching in CDs, just go about thinking how many people will be affected by this.
if you still want to think try this
1) More than 2000 Crores Spent on Chandrayaan, How many poor people were benefitted by that — None
2) 1900 Crore being spent on Common wealth games. is any poor in getting any use from that — Absolutly Not
3) 3000 Crores Collected every year by BCCI by Cricket match ticket sales– How many people get employment from that — None.
4) Crores are alloted for Space programs to put spaceships up there — is there any use of that for a common man— NO.
all these are tax payers Money which is being used to make few people rich.
But when it comes to movies, One person is putting his money and providing food for thousands, obviously he will earn too.
