The Second Test Match between India and Pakistan, kicked off today morning at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. India having taken up the lead in the series, entered the pitch with complete confidence. Pakistan losing the last test match, came in with a lot of pressure, and with huge injury problems striking the team. Shoib Malik was ruked out of the team due to ankle injury. Indian had an unchaged squad, whereas Pakistan was forced to drop their captain Malik and Faisal Iqbal replaced him.
Anil Kumble, won the toss and elected to bat first. Within 3 balls Pakistan got its first victim in the form of Karthik. Then the Jaffer and Dravid had a very good partneship of 136 runs, with Dravid hitting his half century. Then he was out by Danish Kaneria.
Master Blaster Saching came into the field, and started to hit his natural shots. Partnership began to build up once again. Sachin was out at 82 by Danish Kaneria. Sachin and Jaffer enjoyed a 175 runs partnership.
Jaffer brough up his 5th century. At the end of the day, Jaffer was unbeaten on 192 and Ganguly with 17. Team India ended the day 352 for 3 wickets. Wasim Jaffer severly punished the Pakistani Bowlers. He ruled the day and has put India in a stern position in the Test Match.
