Actor, Kamal Hasan has been in the court of law frequently for some or the other reason. recently he was in the court, for his movie Dasavatharam, due to plagiarism issue over its story. The case settled and was provided with a clean chit.
Now an another case has arose. This time it is from the Income Tax Tribunal on tax evasion for the profits earned from the sale of overseas rights of his film Kuruthi Punal. Earlier the case as dismissed as the of film prints can be considered as products and hence exemption from income tax can be sought and also exempted Kamal Haasan, the producer of the film, from tax payment to the tune of Rs. 54,50,000.
Due to non-satisfaction, the IT Department has appealed to the Supreme Court, and with regard to this, SC has issued a notice to Kamal Hasan.
