Director Thankar Bachchan, who has been fanous these days, with one low-budget hit movies like Onbadu Roobai Notu, has sort the Chief Minster of the state, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, to solve a certain problem.
Director Thankar, was a little bit upset with the relaease of the movie Onbadu Roobai Notu. The problem was that there were no theatres to screen the movie, due to many theatres already having the big-budget movie screening. Probably, the director manged to get some screens, for the movie, at last. Simulataneously, he was not able to tolerate the disarespect provided, to him, or to rather say, to the low-budgeted movies.
With regard to this Thankar Bachchan has sent in a three pointed memorandum to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and in it, he has sought to restrict the number of prints made for a film.
He has vouched for only one print for an area. He is against the issuing money by releasing the same film in as many screens. This practice, according to him, disheartens the small players. He also argues that the government should construct some more theatres, that would encourage small budget movies.
The director’s supplication might sound impossible in the current state of affairs. But there is no contradicting fact that he has voiced the concerns of many small players, who struggle to compete with the big shots.
